The Destination Management Guidelines 2020 outlines the 16 main components in a destination management plan. These components have been developed using international research, government frameworks and industry consultation. 

The New Zealand Aotearoa Government Tourism Strategy was launched in May 2019 and aims to enrich New Zealand through sustainable tourism growth, underpinned by productive, sustainable and inclusive tourism. Destination Management is a key focus of the strategy.

This Vision sets the aspiration for the tourism industry to be a prosperous and successful industry over the long term that contributes broadly to the betterment of Aotearoa New Zealand and its people.
