ABOUT TAIRĀWHITI GISBORNE
As the Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) we are tasked with managing tourism and its opportunities and impacts for the benefit of Tairāwhiti communities.
Tourism in Tairāwhiti is a significant economic opportunity. Attracting the ‘right’ visitor at the ‘right’ time is crucial to achieving visitor spend growth. The strategy of the Trust aims to attract visitors that will stay longer and spend more.
Promotion activity will be of high quality and will reflect the uniqueness of this region.
Destination development will expand the supply of high quality and authentic Eat, Stay, Do experiences in order to increase length of stay and spend. The region has the opportunity to capitalise on our diversity, heritage and taonga. The Trust will identify areas of opportunity and priorities to grow tourism businesses.
Investing in destination management is key to supporting the alignment, sustainability, growth and improvement of regional tourism systems. We will maintain and grow key partnerships with mana whenua and the Gisborne District Council to achieve our collective aspirations.
