Sustainable tourism development in Kiribati is rooted in inclusive and collaborative community engagement. Throughout my six years of working with the development of Community Based Tourism (CBT) in Kiribati, I have come to realise how CBT is a key contributor to achieving sustainability. It promotes cultural preservation, conserves our resources, and is a source of income essential to the health of islands and oceans.

My professional experience as a product development officer with the Tourism Authority of Kiribati has allowed me to assist local communities in developing their tourism products that can build their adaptive capacity against the impacts of climate change, promote environmental conservation, maintain and preserve their cultural knowledge and skills of survival and also support their livelihood.

I have brought dedication and positive results to the communities I have worked with.

I am passionate about product development, biodiversity conservation, community engagement and growth, and marketing and promotions. What drives a product to success and community growth interests and inspires me.

My hard work and dedication to sustainable tourism products and community development paid off when I was recognized as a Kiribati Sustainability Champion in March of 2023 by the Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO).

I reside on the capital of Kiribati, South Tarawa, but I love to explore the outer islands and their diverse attractions and unique lifestyles. In my free time, I enjoy photography, volunteering and event planning
