The return of mass visitation by cruise passengers to the township of Lyttelton after an eleven year hiatus resulted in a disrupted community and a threat to social licence. ChristchurchNZ took the lead role in co-ordinating a systems-led approach to address the causes of the negative impacts. To measure the effect of the changes, a research project was undertaken to determine the current sentiment of passengers, businesses and residents. The research also aimed to determine the economic impact of cruise visitors to Christchurch.
