Chief Executive, Hamilton & Waikato Tourism
Nicola has been recently appointed as the Chief Executive of Hamilton & Waikato Tourism (HWT) after having been the Development Manager for the past seven years.
In 2015 then chief of Hamilton & Waikato Tourism, Kiri Goulter, encouraged partner councils to endorse HWT to broaden the focus from a pure “marketing” organisation to include “destination development”. HWT’s journey into Destination Management began with additional funding and a new Development Manager position focussing on capability and capacity building; data, insights and stats; supporting existing operators and onboarding new operators and experiences.
Prior to HWT, Nicola came from the major events sector via a wee sideway sojourn to collect general management experience while managing a sizable medical centre in Hamilton.
